Lunch Count
By Jeanne

Clip to ScrapBook
I have assigned each student a number (alphabetical order) and wrote their number on the top of a tongue depressor with their name below. The lunch sticks each have a small piece of velcro on the back and are stored in order
on a velcro strip on a board by my entry door. I have a plastic glass labeled with our choices ie.: Hot, Sandwich, Cold. As the studnts enter the room in the morning, they take their stick down and place it in the appropriate glass. The lunch counter counts the sticks and fills out the lunch slip that is sent to the kitchen. I can see immediately who is absent or who has forgotten
to remove their stick---even from across the room. At the end of the day it is someones job to put the sticks back on the velcro strip in order. It works great! This is only our 3rd day and the kids did it as they entered without any reminders from me at all!!
