gossip
By Marie

Clip to ScrapBook
Teachers are not unlike many other adults who get together for lunch. Especially when there's gossip to share: "Did you know that Josh's father just got out of jail?" etc.

Sometimes we just vent to each other. We complain
about problems we have with students. Overall, I think that the venting is a healthy thing, because we do need to get some things off of our chest. It's better than just holding it inside. Your coworkers are kind and sympathetic, for the most part, when you have problems and lend a shoulder to cry on when you need it. I had a lot of problems last year with my class, and the teachers
were so wonderful to me when I vented to them about it.

I guess it's not such a bad thing to express feelings when you get together with other teachers, so long as it's not malicious.
