Clip to ScrapBook
You might see if your social studies book comes with an anthology series; short stories which correlate with the text chapters. Another great source is the newspaper. I found in one Sunday paper a great weekly article featuring different topics and reading comprehension quizzes at the end of each one. I have so many by now, and can easily find one to incorporate into whatever I am teaching that day. Let me know if you want more info about them.
