older student talkers

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi. One of my seventh grade teachers wrote a big 60 on the chalk board (it stayed there all year) and every time we started talking she said nothing as she would keep time and when we got quite she subtracted the minutes
(rounded up) from the 60 Any minutes taken off by subs was doubled when the teacher returned. at the end of the week we would spent the subtracted time being "Punished" . This would include heads down quiet time, Writing sentences, extra reading, Work we missed talking, extra homework, being lectured by the principal or another teacher. This teacher was creative. the "punishments" got more
"severe" as the year progressed. the time left was free time. Then we would start fresh on monday morning.
I once remember the week we lost more than the 60 minutes(the extra amount was doubled and taken off the next weeks time). That never happned again!

By the last week of school we actually earned the whole 60 minutes as free time!!

Hope this helps.

Amber
