Since I have a multiage classroom (1,2,3,)I usually write in the prompt for the first graders at the beginning of the year. For the second and third graders I have the prompt on the board and have modeled an example using something I've come up with. For classroom books (which are read over and over again by the students) I make sure they use their "very best" handwriting and I have corrected spelling errors. Since students will be reading these often, I feel it is important to have the spelling correct. Students can utilize classroom books during free choice SSR.
