I'm also a 4th grade teacher, and this year I decided not to do the old alphabetized word wall. Instead, I put up the parts of speech...noun, verb, adjective, adverb. Each week we put up our vocabulary words for the week. The idea is that this will reinforce the parts of speech and will give the kids more interesting words to use when writing.
