Bus Safety

Just a few ideas to pass on:

Last year, we had a bus safety assembly for grades 1-5. The children in the 5th grade created and presented some skits about bus safety. They created some neat scenarios that demonstrated how
important
bus safety can be. The bus garage manager even joined the children and he
acted as the school bus driver for the skits.
At the end of the assembly each teacher was presented with a poster with bus safety rules that were to be displayed in the classroom.
This assembly was the kick off for our bus riders of the month program. Each month the bus drivers were to asked

to select one to two students who demonstrate excellent bus behavior at all times. These children had their pictures taken and the pictures were on display for the whole school community to see. Several local businesses even donated some prizes for the children. The program definetely made a difference on our buses. We drastically reduced the number of bus referrals to the principal.
