Harry Potter Wins by human skills
By Dawn

Clip to ScrapBook
It is important to remember that Harry Potter's character triumphs in all of these books by his human intelligence, determination, and strong moral compass. When he stumbles, it it because he falls prey to human weaknesses
like jealousy or greed.

I've read all 4. Yes, they do stay in your mind for weeks afterward. To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies stays with me 20 years after I have read them. That's what a good book does.

If you teach this book, just ask the kids this--could Harry have won over the evil if there was no witchcraft involved? Get them thinking! They can (and all readers

should) move beyond the surface witchcraft issue to the bigger picture of the book--Stay strong, be just, and keep persevering for what is right, and you will prevail over evil. Sounds almost biblical.
