I've taught elementary in the public schools about 5 years now, and am a Christian plummeted into a very liberal minded, liberal based profession. Personally, I agree with the basis talked about by "teacher/parent" above. Kids in my classes have brought the Harry Potter books to read, and I let that go. As far as implementing anything to do with Harry Potter in my classroom in an effort to make some kind of big deal out of it, nada. There's better stuff to do with the kids educationally that they still have fun with and are engaged in doing without the slightest hesitation as to whether it is appropriate learning.
