I'm with the others
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach grade 1 and I have a few like this every year. Generally as long as they are doing their work and not disturbing others I do not worry about how they are seated at their desks. I've had soem who sit in about 30
different positions before a 1/2 hour is up, others who stand, then sit, then stand again. It took me awhile to get used to it, but once I realized they were learning and everyone around them were learning, I relaxed.

Now if it is a disruptive behaviour, work out cues with the student - walking by his and putting your hand on his shoulder. Thanking another student near him for sitting

so nicely at their desk. Walking by and tapping the top of his desk. Anything to remind him to be back at his desk.
Also if possible talk to his previous teachers and also try to find out his history. There are some disorders like ADHD which makes it much more difficult for a child to sit still. And perhaps his previous teachers had some methods that worked well with him.
