Document Things
By S.

Clip to ScrapBook
Rox,

I am not one to cry foul and run to the union and I'm not suggesting that you do that... yet. I think unions too often cause more problems. However, you should have been given your schedule and lesson plan expectations
before a child ever entered your classroom.

Does your principal have e-mail? Does he/she read it? If so, you might try sending an e-mail to him/her asking, very politely, for the things you need. This will serve as documentation that you have requested the items you need. Be sure and print a copy or cc the assistant principal.

If e-mail isn't an option, write a nice

note asking for the items you need, and keep a copy. This will at least serve to document that you requested the items you need to serve your students.

As for that rude teacher: It makes me livid that someone, who is supposed to be a professional, could behave in such a manner. I think you're right to keep your distance from her.

If you get an opportunity to show her a kindness -- sharing a lesson activity, worksheet or website, by all means, do so. We never know what kinds of burdens others are carrying with them or how far a simple act of kindness can go to reduce some of that frustration.

Good luck!
