New to 5th Grade, too.
By Jessie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello Melissa! Glad to hear I am not the only one new to 5th grade. I made up an activity booklet for my kiddos, filled with all kinds of puzzles, mind games, ect. It's a pretty big packet, centered around a monthly theme.
If they complete it all with a 95% or better, then can use it to raise a low grade for that month. I also made a poster called WHAT DO I DO NOW??? I listed these items:

1. Work on montly theme packet.
2. Read an AR book or take an AR test.
3. Write a letter/story in the writing center. (I have a list of all kinds of story starters there)
4. Ask to use the reading center to

read or look at magazine (I have a carpeted area with a rocking chair).
5. Work on missing assignments.
6. Fill out your assignment book.
7. Draw a picture.
8. Write a poem about your favorite season.

Hopefully, this will keep them busy. Our first day of school is tommorrow, so I haven't reached that point yet, but I hope I am on the right track! Good luck!
