Theme ideas

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a fifth grade teacher and I have a similar theme. Last year I had Home of the Brave this year I changes my theme to Sailing through the Centuries. In the first marking periond I teach the concept of citizenship under
this I teach lifeskills , cooperative learning skills, the constitution, govt, the core democratic values and debating issues within their own community, in the 2nd and third marking period I teach through the concept of adaptations. Under this I teach about the Native Americans, colonization which takes a while. The students learn how the early settlers had to adapt to the geography
on resources of the land and learn about how they developed an economy and compare it to our world today. In the fourth marking period I teach the concept of conflict. We get into the Revolutionary war. What cause and effect did it have on today's life. Intertwined through all this is my math, science and language arts where it will fit. I hope this helps.
