Professional Resources for Comprehension
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Deb,
So sorry I didn't answer sooner, we just started school...both 'Revisit, Reflect, Retell' and 'Snapshots' are professional resources that give you numerous ideas for having children respond to literature in order
to strengthen reading comprehension. Here's a quote from the book, which really hooked me on it. In the prologue, Linda Hoyt talks about the joy of finishing an enjoyable story...
"As I move back into the rhythms of my own life, the story sometimes goes with me, drifting in and out of my thoughts.
I have never once felt the urge to snatch up glue and scissors to create a diorama
or run to my computer to write a concise summary of the plot. Instead, I might tell a good friend about the book or hold the thoughts close as I reflect on the meanings of what I read."
How true...both books are aimed at supporting authentic responses to good books in order to enhance understanding. I believe both are published by Heinemann. Let us know what you think when you've tried one or both!
;-D
