bathroom usage
By ER

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with Jan that it is unhealthy and unacceptable to prevent a child from using the bathroom. Yes, there are those students who abuse the use of the bathroom. I do not have children yet, but I myself need to use the
bathroom frequently. I DO need to go every hour. In fact, I was just put on medication for a spastic bladder (not to get too personal!). Before I was on the medication, it was very embarrassing and I really had to go right when the urge struck. I fear that my little 8 year olds may have a similar health problem that just hasn't been recognized or addressed yet, and I do not want to
be responsible for making them feel the same panic that I have experienced when I am not able to use the bathroom. I hate it when kids have to go at inconvenient times. I try to "train" them to have to go at more appropriate times than in the middle of a lesson. If a child goes a lot I tell the parent, and either the child stops because they are just being troublemakers, or the child ends up having a medical condition that I didn't know about. So please take this into account when deciding on your bathroom policies!
