Math idea
By Jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, I don't know if your school offers the program "Accelerated Math", but it is a lifesaver!!
I teach 5th grade Math. Our school purchased "Accelerated Math" last year. It is a WONDERFUL computer program that moves
at each individual student's pace. You can set the students on whatever level. Some of mine work on a 2nd grade level and some of them are working on a 6th grade level, but the beauty is that the students do not know who's working on what.
The A.M.(similar to A.R.) will print an assignment for the student with given objectives. After the student completes the assignment on a scantron
card, he goes to the scanner and "scans" his own assignment. The kids completely LOVE this, because they are in control. A report is then printed with the student's grade, plus the next assignment. If the student doesnt "master" a certain objective, the computer will continue assigning that particular objective until "practice makes perfect". My kids beg for AM daily. The program even guarantees an increase in test scores. It is offered throught Renaiisance. Maybe your school will purchase it, it is expensive, but will pay off!!!
