large classes By Carolyn

It's a shame to see such large classes of 30 or more kids. I just don't think the kids will learn as well in such a classroom. I think that once you get beyond 25 it's difficult. My personal belief is that teachers of large classes should also be paid more because they are doing so much more. I know that in my district once the class size gets to be over 30 we split it into two classes. Our one third grade class was going to have 32 this year, so it was split. I think it's especially important to have small classes, or at least a teaching assistant, in the primary grades. Our kindergarten teacher has a full-time assistant.
