Reading warm-ups By Laura

Nancie Atwell has a great book titled In the Middle, Writing, Reading and Learning with Adolescents. Last year she revamped it, but I can't think of the new name. A search on Amazon will get you the correct new title. | Anyway, in her book, she discusses minilessons, that five or ten minute lesson to introduce or remind them of different concepts. In her old book she has pages of ideas to make into minilessons such as dialogue, flashback, plot, red herring, what the author meant, concepts of books, etc. etc. I understand her updated book actually gives minilessons in it. My school has it ordered for me, | | I hope it gets here before school starts since I'm designing my reading program around her book. If by a reading warm-up you mean something you would talk about, like a minilesson, then you might want to try her book.
