Becoming a teacher
By Pam

Clip to ScrapBook
This is almost exactly the same route that I had to follow. I had to work as well though for the first few years. It took me quite a while. I am 47, and I am just starting my second year of teaching. My advice would be to also volunteer in a local school, not just PTA stuff but working directly with kids-listening to them read etc. This will give you valuable experience and will look good on your teacher cert program application and resume. Also contact the teacher cert program now, and ask them which classes they would like you to take in your degree-most require human development, statistics etc. I hope this helps. It was a long haul, but worth it. You can do it!
Pam
