I am lucky. I only have 17 students this year. I had 17 last year, 15 the year before, and 17 the year before that. The South Carolina schools I have worked in tend to have small classes. My husband works in North Carolina. He has had as many as 34 high school students in a class. I also understand that they have large elementary classes. This is one reason I continue to teach in South Carolina, even though I live in North Carolina.
