I hate that advice :)

Kids are kids and you have to love them. Be firm and let them know up front what you expect. Joke around with them, have fun with them, but when misbehavior occurs be firm, be consistent, and make it known that you will not tolerate it. I think they are more willing to behave if you have a mutual respect than if they are frightened of you.
