Consequences
By ABE

Clip to ScrapBook
We had a lot of that in our class. We had some really bright kids with nothing very positive going on at home. Sounds like you have a kid with some problems. Have you talked to him? I'd spend a lot of time talking to
this kid without involving the parents, yet. I bet stuff is going on that a counselor needs to deal with. For a consequence, I'd hold him to coming up with a consequence himself. Then he is taking responsibility for his own actions. If he refuses to think of one (he's smart, right?) Then give him an option that he will want to avoid-"Here's your choice: work with me to find a consequence
and prevent this destructive behavior or I will have to ....." You have to know what will push him to choose the former. Some kids don't care if you call their parents but do care if they miss recess for a month or send them to the principal. Good luck.
