seating By Claire

I came up with what I thought was a good seating chart last year. I put half of the desks on one side and the other half on the other side and had my kids facing each other. I liked it, my kids liked it, other teachers| even commented on the different approach and liked it, the only person who didn't like it was my principal and he told me so in no uncertain terms. I quickly changed it, because I was a first year teacher, to please him. I didn't like the same ole traditional seating and neither did my students, but I did what I had to. (another new teacher liked it so well she did her room that way | | and he said nothing, but that's another story). Another way I've seen done is in a horseshoe shaped. I liked that too. Check with other teachers, see if there is a set standard to arrange a room then play around with different ideas. Find one that suits your style.
