Things WILL get better!

Cathy-Dee and AnneB both offer great advice. Another thing you might consider is asking the principal to assign you a mentor teacher or ask if there is a master mentor in the building that you can go to for help. And as
AnneB and Cathy-Dee said, the secretaries in our building are also the ones with the scoop about all the administrative details such as lunch waves and specials. After all, they are usually the ones in charge of typing and distribution.
Another idea might be to hang around a little later than usual if you can. I found that after the children have been gone a little while, the other teachers

(and the secretaries!) have had time to decompress a little bit and are more relaxed and receptive to questions. Also, sometimes some of the veteran teachers who don't have young families to hurry home to seem to have a few extra minutes then to chat when the pressure is off.

As you said though, sometimes we don't have that luxury to wait until later to ask! I have to think that since your administration has not been too helpful to you, they are not much help to the other teachers either, and that the first few weeks will be stressful for everyone, even the veterans! As Cathy-Dee said, do try to forgive them, even though it feels as though you should not. But, look for others you can bond with and remember, some others may not be in your grade now, but they may have been there before and may have some great advice and tips to offer.
