Classroom Management

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi there,
I use the card system. Every student has an envelope with their name on it that has four different colored index cards in it. Everyone starts the day off with a green card (excellent behavior). If they are
off task they have to pull their card to yellow (warning). If they continue to misbehave they have to pull their card to an orange (lunch detention). If this behavior continues on they turn their card to a blue (office referral). For every time they earn a detention via this process, they lose ten participation points.I start the students off with 100 "Participation Points". The only
way that they can lose these points is by having to pull their card to a "detention".

I also use group points. My students sit in groups and they work together to try and earn points. They can earn points by being the first group to be quietly awaiting instructions, everyone turning in their homework, following directions, etc. At the end of the week which ever team has the most points wins 5 bonus points and 5"gold cards" that can be traded in for prizes throughout the year. The group that has the most points at the end of the month wins the "jar prize". I have a jar that I fill with different goodies that the kids can win. This month it is highlighters.
Hope this helps.
