Journal Writing

This is my second year teaching 4th grade. Journal writing is very important to the students overall writing performance. The idea I am using this year is to give them 100 journal ideas(from a resource book). They have to write at least one entry per week, if not more. During morning work, they rush to their journals...and ask if they can write more than I require(which is 2 paragraphs or 10 sentences). Let them write! Good Luck!
