Reading Incentive Program
By Wendy

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a reading incentative program in my class. When students finish reading a book, they are to complete a book report form (in the shape of an ice cream)- Title, author, main characters, main idea, favorite part - one
or two sentences. For every book under 100 pages they will receive one star on the chart. They will receive an extra star for every 50 pages. I do monthly longer book reports by genre so every will earn one star per month. I stress that this isn't a competition. After 20 stars I will buy the student lunch at McDonald's. I stress that this is not a competion. Everyone reaches the goal at
different times. I do not start over when someone earns the 20 stars. I tell my students that I hope to buy everyone McDonald's sometime through the year.
