YES CHILL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
Tina,
Yes you do need to chill out! I am sure in the world of political correctness (my entire district was moved around because one school had more african american students than another) that everything was reviewed.
Her class just HAPPENS to be all boys, I think she was quite clear that the government (or the school or the teacher or the parents) did not set out on some covert operation to keep little girls out of this second grade class. Some things just happen, I ended up with an all african american class at my school last year and YES I did modify certain things. We explored more diverse literature,
we were able to more deeply explore more racial issues, etc... I still provided the same education, but I did modify because I had a unique and wonderful opportunity. I applaud this teacher for exploring her options instead of saying, "all classes are the same" I am sure there will be difficulties and at some point she will get a girl or two in the class and then she will face new difficulties, (how to include the lone stranger) but until then provide insight, not just more complications for this person trying to provide the best education to her students.

I apologize for the Vent, I just got frustrated by what seemed like a panic monger. Relax, have fun and enjoy being with children.
