CLARITY
By Melanie

Clip to ScrapBook
The gifted school that I am teaching at is geared toward gifted children, but it essentially a "public school." It is funded by tax dollars which means noone can be turned away. The parents of the children who go to the
school were unsatisfied with regular classroom instruction because it did not meet the needs of their children. We offer a program that allows students to do work well above grade level, enriches curriculum, and offers opportunities for lots of project work. I am using the "Project Approach" in my classroom. The reason that I have no girls this year, therefore, is a complete fluke!!
All of the other classes have about an equal mix. For some reason, no parents of girls CHOSE to have their girls attend the school. I was merely asking for some advice so that I can be the best possible teacher for my students (whether they are all boys or not). Thank you to those of you who saw the need for advice and not attack.
