"class pets"
By Kathleen

Clip to ScrapBook
Guinea pigs can cause some pretty rough allergic reactions, and so can their bedding, especially the cedar kind. I have had them around my whole life, and I've noticed that another problem is that, as they grow into adults, they tend to smell even if you change their bedding constantly. They can be quite a lot of work if you care for them right. Don't get me wrong, I think they are good pets, but not necessarily for the classroom. Also, if you end up with a really jittery guinea pig who doesn't adapt well to be handled or bothered by lots of adoring hands and voices, you could end up with a nip or two! I liked the idea about hermit crabs. They are fun to watch, affordable, and won't cause allergies!
