Homework Incentive By Virginia

Sheri, I have used his incentive for returning homework in kindergarten, first and second grades over the years and it works very well with little effort on my part!Every morning the children know to turn in homework in | separate stacks, for instance all math in one stack and spelling in another. One of the jobs I have are "Homework Collectors" who work in pairs. I assign each child a number at the beginning of the year, in alphabetical order. This is a real time saver! I have a typed sheet of numbers from 1 - ? depending on my class size (this year 31!!). The Homework Collectors each get a copy | | of the number sheet and cross out the numbers that returned homework. These students get a "hot ticket" -- I purchase a double roll of tickets similar to door prize tickets. A roll costs about $3.99 at Walmart and there are 2,000 tickets on each roll. Each students prints their name and number on the hot ticket and places it in our hot ticket can. Every Friday I choose four hot tickets from the can and these students get a KoolAid Burst or juice box to enjoy anytime during the day. This is a very inexpensive but motivational incentive. The rest of the class gets free seats for one assignment or free seats at lunch. Everyone is a winner at a minimal expense to me.
