Yes! I had mystery readers last year with my third graders for the first time and they loved it! I too, followed Beth Newingham's plan - the mystery reader sent in 5 clues on Monday. Each day I gave the kids one clue (we actually also turned this into a logic/problem solving activity to try and figure out who the mystery reader was!) finishing with the last clue on Friday morning. The Mystery Reader read on Friday afternoon for 20 minutes. It was always a huge hit.
I had a mystery reader almost every Friday from October to May and the kids looked forward to their mystery!
