    From a substitute teacher

Something that can sometimes help is if the teacher leaves a note of what they would normally do in a situation.

What's your attention signal? If the students aren't hearing one they are used to they might take longer to respond. What are the steps for discipline? Do they get warnings or not? If so, how many? What happens to students who continue to disobey?

Some students just can't handle change and adjust with great difficulty.

If the students know that the substitute teacher is familiar with the regular teacher's routines/discipline methods it helps a little bit.
