supply money - to Christy
By Julie

Clip to ScrapBook
$25! That's hardly enough to buy much of anything! What you will have to do is tell your parents up-front that you receive very little supply money and that THEY would have to send their children to school with scissors,
glue, crayons, and other student supplies. Some teachers use the clipboards for displaying children's work on the wall. Two fourth grade teachers I work with hang them from a nail at the bottom on the chalkboard. Then they clip each child's work to them. It's easier than stapling everything to a bulletin board and doesn't use up your valuable staple supply. I am shocked that your
district doesn't supply you with basic teacher supplies. These were given to me on the first day of school: stapler, staples, board erasers, overhead transparencies, file folders. We also have donations of student supplies, such as spiral notebooks, from local organizations for needy children who can't afford to buy their own, or who come from larger families and would have to spend a fortune on kids' stuff. Maybe you could talk with your administrator about speaking with local organizations about similar donations. This would help with the crunch. Teachers shouldn't have to spend pocket money for school supplies.
