Fun in Fourth

There are two ways to have fun with all those boring definitions...
We have what we call "Trivia Day" where the students get into groups and without looking up the definition I ask them questions regarding the definitions.
Whatever group gets the word and then is able to give a pretty sound definition gets a point. After the game comes to a close, the students in the group with the most points receives a "No Homework Pass" to use on any assignment within the term.

Another fun one is to have a definition bee. I have all my students stand up and I pick one student to recite a definition of their choosing.

Once they have stated one correctly, they choose another student. The next student recites another defintion. They do this until there are no more defintions left for the week. If a student cannot remember the definition they must sit down. The last person who stated the word and the definition correctly picks another student. The one left standing is the winner--They can only be the winner if there are no more defintions left. This gets the students to remember the whole list to be the definition champion.

One or the other happens on Thursday. Friday is the exam day for that weeks definition selection. I hope this helps (o:
