I have "Friday free time", it is connected to my class management system as to who gets to participate. I give up 20 minutes at the end of the day on Friday for free time, the kids love it, It is also great to observe the interaction of kids during this time. If it is nice out I take them outside other wise they play legos, cards, checkers, etc. those that didn't earn this have to complete any missing work or work on a plan so that they will be able to participate in the next week's free time. My kids really look forward to this and it is well worth giving up the 20 minutes a week. One of my team mates also does this and we often let our classes play together during this time.
