My students have 5 words that come from their errors in writing and I then I get 10 words that fit into the standards, like root words, or suffix, etc, then 5 words that I want them to know be it math words, science, social studies etc. They get the words on Friday, Pre-test on Monday, Final on Thursday. Spelling homework is a list of activities that use the 8 intelligences/Blooms' taxonomy that change every quarter, they have to choose 2 activities. I can send you my choice list for this quarter. I don't know what next quarter will be because I choose by what I see they need. The 5 words from their writing they test each other. This is probably as clear as mud.
