Clip to ScrapBook
My kids absolutely LOVE writing in their journals! I have them write daily, and many days they can't wait to share what they've written. I usually give them a prompt to write about, and then give them 10 minutes or so to
write. I tell them their pencil must keep moving. This is hard for some at the beginning of the year, but after a while they really like it. I do not grade for accuracy - this is their time to put their thoughts on paper and to NOT worry about punctuation, spelling, etc. I am amazed at how my students' writing abilities change throughtout the year. Those that didn't know what to write
in the beginning of the year beg for more time to write towards the end of the year! I believe writing in their journal helps to increase their confidence in themselves as writers. Use journals consistently, and you'll never go without them! Have a great year! There's nothing better than teaching!
