One way to avoid public posting

Clip to ScrapBook
What I have found useful is to give the students colors to keep at their desks (red, yellow and green circles to represent the lights would be fine.) On each circle I have the student's number (you can use names if you want, but I have a highly transient class and get tired of making up new circles all the time.) When a child misbehaves, they get the circle from their desk and place it in a basket on mine. That way it is more private, but it's also difficult for a child to switch it back. It also makes it easy for me to note down behavior at the end of the day--I just list what color each student had to give me and then place the circle back on their desk so they can start again the next day.

I hope this made sense and is useful to you.

Joell
