losing their attentention
By ck

Clip to ScrapBook
At this age, their attention span IS quite short, especially when they're still in "summer mode". Hang in there!
I liked the posted idea about getting the kids up & walking/moving when the attention is waning. A teacher I know uses the following technique & it also works. If she notices that the kids are getting antzy & she's losing them, she has them turn to a partner and share what they've just learned or share comments, etc. for 1 minute. "Turn to a partner and tell him/her what you've learned so far about hermit crabs." She then does one of her attention getters: Hand up in the air, folding each finger in turn "5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Put that conversation on pause" & she pushes an imaginary pause button.
Good Luck! We start in another week!
