32 1st graders WOW!!
By jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
Oh my gosh, 32 in one class. I hope that you have an assistant. Most states set limits on class size before a second person is added. I think that MO is 29 or close to that. Not to make you jelous but our first grade
class sizes are around 15-18.

Anyway I agree, you need to work on procedures (Harry Wong) and practice, practice, practice. When I first started I sat down and wrote out the procedures for passing in papers, asking a question, getting the group quiet in 5 seconds or less, lining up, walking down the hall, etc. When I wrote these down I was very specific. I wrote what I would say,

and what the students would do, having in down on paper made me feel more secure and organized. Then we practiced. I would role model with students what a bad way to ask and question looked like and then what a good way would look like and then we would all practice. Seriously when you practice perfect you become perfect.

Once they get your routines down they and you will do great things.

Jessica
