When I was little

we had a ton of little furry pets, so I dealt with loss a lot. I haven't had a classroom pet, so I'm not sure about telling your students. But my mom always held a funeral with me and my brother and we buried the pet and then we painted a rock as a headstone. It was our memory rock. Maybe your students could paint a rock and keep it in the classroom as a memory.
