Traveling Teddy
By tammy brantley

Clip to ScrapBook
I know of a similar project. A teddy bear was taken to an airport and placed with an airline stewardess to begin its journey. They did this at the beginning of the schoolyear. A notebook was also given in order to write daily journals about the travels. Throughout the year, the teddy bear went from airlines to airlines, continent to continent, stewardess to stewardess, until April. The teddy bear was finally taken back to the classroom and all journal entries, postcards, souvenirs, and earned wings were shared with the class. Geography, writing, and reading skills as well as math skills were applied as the students identified the continents and calculated the miles the teddy bear had flown over the course of eight months. Hope this helps you.
