    after reviewing the NC Code of Ethics for teachers, I feel changing grades to a 60 on individual assignments violates it. I have no problem changing the "posted" report card grade to a 60 if it is below that, but I cannot in good conscience change a "line item." If I do, what happens when I take a kid to team? There will be no difference in the assignments he/she did poorly on or just flat didn't do! I'd rather keep line items as is and change the posted grade.

    FYI - Here is what I read last year that led to my opinion as stated above:
    Code of Ethics for NC Educators: section .0602 b3E (bottom of page 3)
    (b) Professional educators shall adhere to the standards of professional conduct contained in this Rule. Any intentional act or omission that violates these standards is prohibited.
    (3) Honesty. The educator shall not engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation in the performance of professional duties including the following:
    (E) evaluation or grading of students or personnel;
