kindness
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
You can:
Bring in a cup of coffee or a soft drink at the end of her first day.
Suggest going out to lunch on parent/teacher conference day so she can vent.
Buy an extra of the little tools you think are indispensible
(a good staple remover comes to mind.)
Make an extra copy of your first two weeks lesson plans so she had an example to go by.
Let her know which thematic unit you are working on next so you can share materials if she wants.
Take her around before school starts to meet the librarian, secretary and janitor.
Give her your home phone number!

There are so many things my partner

did for me last year that she didn't have to do. (I was new to the school, but not new to teaching.) Every little kindness was so appreciated. They made me feel welcome and helped me relax and enjoy my first year at a new school. You are so nice to think of doing this for your new teacher.
