Just some ideas
By Barb

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,

I don't have the book, but i know there is a book just by that title almost...you can check it out...sorry I don't know the title off the top of my head.

Here's just a list of some ideas that I've seen some people
do in their classroom for these instances: (soem will depend on the ages)
--have a puzzle for students to work on
--word searches, word puzzles, coloring pages, etc
--books to read
--a listening station with books on tape
--writing prompts
--games like scrabble, money games, etc.
--maybe start a class community project...maybe have the class decide on a something they
can make to help a needy family or shelter and then in their free time, they can make those items...
--any kind of quiet, educational gmaes that can be alone or in partners.
--If your students are a bit older and can read basic books...they can make their own books on
tape and record stories on blank tapes to give to the kindergarten room or donate to a children's hospital or women's shelter.
--computer programs/games
--have a weekly challenge math problem that is something difficult that they CAN do...but will be multiple steps and take some time. They can work on this in their free time.
--have a book club...for each book they read in class, they can get a stamp or sticker and then after every 10 or however many books, they get to choose a prize.

Just a few ideas..hope you can use some!
