I don't know your grade level, but I have a couple of ideas used in 2nd. First, make a questionnaire of characteristics, likes, dislikes of the child such as eye color, hair color, favorite food, favorite movie, etc. The| child fills it out with NO NAME on the front. We wrote the name lightly on the back (upside down). I stapled the papers to the board at the top only. The parents got to GUESS WHO their child was and check the answer by flipping the paper up. It was fun for all. Second, is to let the kids cut pictures out of magazines and make a collage that represents themselves. Then attach a | | piece of handwriting paper where they write about the pictures. We attached it by punching holes in the collage and the handwriting paper and tying it with yarn. Oh, glue the handwriting paper to a piece of construction paper for more stability and style! Anyway, if I cut out pizza, I wrote...I like pizza. If I cut out vegetables, I wrote...I do not like vegetables. If I cut out airplanes, I wrote...I love to travel. You get the idea. It turns out really neat and you can either lay it on the desk or hang it around the room. Have fun!
