    I do a form of Word ladders

    and Word families on it. I put up a word and then ask the next person to take away one letter to make a new word and so.

    I put up h-a-d. Say change one letter to make the word s-a-d. Next child makes 'sat'> mat > map > rap > ran > man...and so on. You can change just the initial sounds or all of the positions. Same with word families.
