5th grade management By PH

You might want to do some informal assessments during this time. I have a book of index cards bound together with a spiral ring (Wal-Mart, approx. 5o cents) I print each child's name at the top of a card, then walk around during the day and make notes about each student. Having then read your rules and consequences, listening to them answer questions and their general conversation can tell you a lot about the kinds of things they may need help with later on, such as oral reading, word attack strategies, etc. Hope that helps!
