Encouraging socialization
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi there,
One of the most important things you can do to build and maintain a supportive community of learners, is to have daily class meetings to discuss celebrations & concerns. There are several books written on the
subject. Encourage and expect lots of small group and buddy interactions and invite children to collaborate on projects and activities on daily basis; change seating after a week or two for awhile into the year (so everyone has had an opportunity to get to know the strengths and talents of individuals in the room); reading and discussing books that address the various personalities that
are mirrored in your class; sharing/modeling how to establish and maintain relationships are all vital to insuring that all children are valued, supported and supporting of the community. Best of luck...If you want titles for additional possibilities, just post or email. ;-D
